Tâigael’s Third Feature on TaiwanPlus News (3 of 3)

We are thrilled to share the third feature on TaiwanPlus about our book Tâigael: Stories from Taiwanese & Gaelic.

This one features the brilliant Tâigael author Naomi Sím.

TaiwanPlus is an international media platform providing English-language news and entertainment from Taiwan. They are a publicly funded organisation based in a thriving democracy at the heart of Asia. This is what they had to say about Tâigael: Stories from Taiwanese & Gaelic:

“Taiwanese Tâi-gí and Gaelic are languages separated by thousands of kilometres — but both have a shared history of being repressed at one time. A new book, “Tâigael,” is an ode to both languages and celebrates authors reviving their mother tongues. In this episode of Zoom In Zoom Out, Naomi Sim, a Taiwanese writer, Tâi-gí cultural preservationist, and a featured author in “Tâigael” discusses her writing style and discovery of Tâi-gí. Naomi is a two-time winner of the Tâi-gí Literature Award for short stories. Her works explore themes of identity and culture, often using humour and satire to shed light on deeper societal issues.”

See Naomi talk about her journey to discover her Mother Language and about writing, Taiwanese culture and much more.

Thank you again to the TaiwanPus team, Rik Glauert, Alec MacDonald, John Su and Luffy Li for their hard work and enthusiasm for the project.
