Local Writers' and Publishers' Fair

Recently Wind&Bones Books co-director Dr Hannah Stevens was at the Local Writers’ and Publishers’ Fair at Leicester Central Library, in the English Midlands.

The event was part of the UK wide, national Green Libraries Week. Led by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, Green Libraries Week is the national, annual celebration of libraries, across all sectors — from public libraries on the high street to national, health and academic libraries — with a focus on libraries leading climate and sustainability initiatives for their users and communities.

The week is “a showcase of the very best that libraries have to offer, where they explore and celebrate inventive and inspiring activities engaging with local communities and the media to highlight the diverse ways that they are working with users to build skills and confidence at every stage of their lives.”

It’s also a great way to connect libraries and communities across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, something very much close to our hearts.

The event was a lot of fun and it was so lovely to meet fellow publishers, writers and readers and get some books into folks’ hands. Of course, we were stocking copies of ON THE BODIES OF STRANGERS, MOTHER TONGUE and TÂIGAEL: STORIES FROM TAIWANESE&GAELIC as well as some of our beautifully designed postcards.

A huge thank you to the Leicester Library team for looking after us so well and for making everyone feel so welcome.
