Since arriving in Bulgaria six or seven weeks ago, we’ve been busy settling into life in Sofia. And over the past few weeks, we have been lucky enough to work with a group of enormously talented Bulgarian writers on our course The Stories that Make Us, exploring the genres of creative nonfiction, memoir and life-writing.
This is a new course for us, and we’ve been delivering it in partnership with Sofia University’s AFEAS, or Academic Foundation for English and American Studies. Although we’re teaching in English, we love working in multilingual contexts, so we’re very pleased to have writers in the group writing in both Bulgarian and English.
For our courses, we’ve been hosted by the very lovely people at hOURSPACE, in Ivan Vazov street. And where better to be talking about writing than on the street named after Bulgaria’s most famed novelist?
We’ve got some new courses up our sleeves for the new year, and if you’ve missed our The Stories that Make Us course this time round, we’re going to be continuing to run it into 2020. See here for more information.
